Doctoral route to creative strategic vision The world of business presents managers with
many challenges. To find sound solutions to the various complex, and
sometimes strategic, challenges, senior managers need research skills and
management insights.
Hong Kong Baptist University's doctor of business administration
program has been designed with these goals in mind, and uses teaching,
training in advanced analytic skills and in-depth understanding of
management issues to achieve them.
The university says the DBA is a well-structured, tailor-made doctoral
program that integrates course work, workshops and a doctoral thesis.
It requires a three-year study period, but can be extended to a maximum
of six years. The combined skills of experienced, top professors from
local and overseas institutes contribute to the excellence of the program.
DBA candidates can expect to emerge from the program with greater
strategic creativity and intellectual leadership skills.
Organizational management, strategic planning and decision-making, as
well as qualitative and quantitative research methods (with a focus on
business and management) comprise compulsory courses.
They develop a solid foundation for the thesis-writing phase of the
program.
The DBA thesis is the culmination of an independent research project
that demonstrates the candidates' expertise in an actual business case or
empirical research. It should make an original intellectual contribution
to a certain aspect of management knowledge.
Concurrent with the three years of compulsory course work and thesis
preparation are a series of professional workshops, encouraging broad
discussion among academics, business leaders and professionals from a wide
range of industries on real-world business issues. 2008-04-26 |
