China is welcoming domestic tourists back to
Tibet, but there is no word on when foreigners will be allowed in.
Four groups of visitors are expected to arrive over the next five days,
according to Xinhua News Agency.
But the regional deputy tourism director, Zhanor, said there had been
no word on when Tibet would reopen to foreign tourists, who have been
banned since anti-government riots in the capital, Lhasa, on March 14.
Authorities had said that foreigners could start visiting Tibet from
May 1 but reversed that decision, citing a need for safe passage of the
Olympic torch relay to Mount Everest.
