4 Nations Conduct Counter Terrorism War Games

Australia, Britain, Canada, New Zealand and the United States began a five-day global counter- terrorism war games on Monday to test the security of vital infrastructure and services, Radio New Zealand reported Monday.

The exercises, codenamed Cyberstorm Two and involving security officials and businesses, simulate coordinated cyber attacks on critical infrastructure such as telecommunication companies, banks and transportation.

Federal Australian Attorney-General Robert McClelland said earlier that there have been attempts to infiltrate Australian government computer networks.

The New Zealand Government Communications Security Bureau said New Zealand is generally very secure.

The first Cyberstorm drill in February 2006 forced a number of international intelligence agencies to face multiple fictitious attacks at one time: subway trains in Washington were shut down, port computers in New York went dark and a mysterious liquid was found on London's Tube.
