Malaysian PM: Election
Voting Goes Smoothly
Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said on
Saturday that the process of the 12th general election went on smoothly
so far, without untoward incidents.
"I am very satisfied with the weather today...the election
nationwide goes smoothly," he told reporters after casting his
ballot at the polling station set up in the Permatang Behtang National
Secondary School in the Kepala Batas constituency in the northern state
of Penang.
He called on the public to come out and vote for themselves.
Badawi cast his ballots into the two transparent boxes at around 9:25 am
at the polling station, accompanied by his wife Jeanne.
Jeanne also called upon women to vote together with their husband and
show women's power with their votes.
Friday night in his final message before the polling day, which was
broadcast live on television, Badawi called on Malaysians to give
priority to their future and that of their families when they cast their
votes on Saturday.
Badawi, who is also the chairman of the ruling coalition Barisan
Nasional (BN), or National Front, urged the voters to choose the party
that truly had the capability to ensure continued development for a
better future.
